Chinatimes Headquarters Building

The building is actually two buildings with a space between them that acts as a light well, rising straight through to the general administration offices at the top. This space symbolizes the endless cycling of chi or energy. In designing the building, the “squeeze” technique utilized by traditional Chinese landscape paintings was used to connect the foreground and background spaces. The gaps with sunlight shining through at the top of the building also helps to give the skyline a brighter feel. The rooftop garden employs Chinese landscape garden principles.
